Mr. Blackburn, son of the late Tom W. and Ruby Moon Blackburn was born on October 3, 1951 in the Goshen community of Lincoln County. During his childhood, he attended Goshen Baptist Church and school in Lincolnton. He operated Blackburn’s Automotive and Tire for 33 years. His natural mechanical abilities along with his honest and humble character allowed him to grow a dream into a successful business that he truly loved and enjoyed. To him it was not just a way of making a living but it was also a way for him to show his generosity to those who couldn’t afford to have their vehicle repaired. A typical day at his business included auto and truck repair, tire installation, and operating the towing service day and night. To say that he had a good work ethic was an understatement. His priorities were God first, his family and work. He loved his family, classic cars, attending car shows and traveling to the mountains. He was a faithful member of Carters Grove Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He lived by a quote that he often used, “Just Do The Right Thing!”
He will be greatly missed by his family which includes his wife of 50 years, Joyce Ann Blackburn; daughters, Angie Radford and husband Hal of Lincolnton, Lynn carter and companion Johnny Streetman; brothers, Jimmy Blackburn of Augusta and Don Blackburn of Lincolnton; sisters, Birder Mae Bridges of Washington and Mattie Harper of Augusta; grandchildren, Cody brown and wife Stephanie, Katlyn Spratlin and husband Anthony, Chancey Maxwell, Jordan Streetman, Braden Streetman, Madison Carter, Lexi Streetman, Katie Vickery, Brandtley Vickery, Hudson Radford, and Sydney Radford; great- grandchildren, Carlie Brown, Adalynn Spratlin and Heavenlee Ellis.
Memorial contributions may be made to Carters Grove Baptist Cemetery Fund, c/o Mrs. Cecile Poss, 5314 Lexington Rd., Rayle, Ga. 30660.
Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton is honored to serve the family of Mr. Willie Frank Blackburn.
