Robert Franklin "Bob" Guillebeau, 73, of Lincolnton, Georgia was freed into eternal peace on July 5, 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 26, 2020 at 6:00 pm at Soap Creek Marina Beach. Attendance in casual attire is requested and boaters are welcome. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, plans for the visitation have been cancelled.
Bob was born in Lincolnton, Georgia on November 5, 1946 to Harvey Jordan Guillebeau and Rachel Drinkard Guillebeau. He was a graduate of Lincolnton High School (class of 1964) and played football for the Red Devils. After high school, he served in the National Guard. Bob was a lineman for 26 years with Wilkes Telephone and Electric. In 1994, Bob took early retirement and bought Soap Creek Restaurant, which he owned until 2016. In 1997, Bob married the love of his life, Rosalyn (Bentley) Guillebeau and they worked alongside each other and had a special bond with their Soap Creek family. Bob loved Georgia Tech football, NASCAR, Daytona Beach, tending his vegetable garden, and fishing with Rosalyn on Sunday afternoons. He always had a joke to tell and laughed harder than anyone in the room when he delivered the punch line.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Rosalyn, two daughters by his first marriage: Leah (Steve) Cassell and Bobbie (Austin) Rhodes, two step sons: Joseph (Sheri) Hawes and Justin (Jennifer) Hawes, and six grandchildren: Sara Hawes, Spencer Hawes, Virginia Cassell, Beau Rhodes, Bentley Hawes, and Elizabeth Hawes. Bob was an adoring “Bobo” to his grandchildren and loved to make them squeal. Bob is also survived by one sister, Jane Guillebeau Mattison, and had a special relationship with his nephews and niece.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Augusta Chapter, 106 SRP Dr, Evans, GA 30809
