Richard Eugene Bruntz, 89, Thomson, Georgia, entered into eternal rest at VA Hospital, Augusta on May 15, 2022.
Richard was born in Greeley, Colorado on July 9, 1932. He grew up in South Bend, Indiana, graduated from Acme School of Design and Engineering in South Bend with an Associate’s Degree, and has lived over half of his life in Thomson, Georgia. He was an Army Veteran and earned the Bronze Star for his service during the Korean War. Richard owned and operated Small World Day School and was employed by Uniroyal with 32 years of perfect attendance before retiring. He was Baptist by faith, a charter member of Second Baptist Church and enjoyed serving his Lord. He loved singing in the Church Choir and singing solos and with quartets. Richard enjoyed traveling, painting art, antiquing, water sports, go carting. Richard played the violin at an early age, learned the electric guitar as an adult and in 1995 he was the First Place Power Lifting Champion in the Master’s Class in the State of Georgia and especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Bruntz and Agnes Berens Bruntz and his brothers, Robert Bruntz and Thomas Bruntz. His survivors include his wife, Elaine M. Bruntz of 66 years; his sons, Craig Bruntz (Tammie) and Kent Bruntz (Susan); his grandchildren, Nichole Bruntz Jackson (Brian), Tyler Bruntz, Lauren Bruntz Creswell (Trey) and Erin M. Bruntz Meyer (Wesley); and two great grandchildren, Payton Jackson and Caden Jackson.
Richard’s service will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at Beggs Funeral Home Chapel, 799 Cobbham Road, Thomson, Georgia with Rev. Danny Burnley, officiating. His interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers for the services are Tommy Burnley, Dennis Allen, Roger Greene, Danny Burnley, Dean Roberson, Kent Bruntz and Craig Bruntz.
