Richard Leonard DuBois, 83, of Crawfordville, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on October 31, 2023.

Richard was born on May 12, 1940, in Putnam, Connecticut, and grew up in the embrace of the Catholic Church. He later joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Gordon in Augusta, GA, where he met his wife of 60 years, Sharon McAvoy DuBois. Richard supported his family as a long-distance truck driver. He was always happy to be home in Georgia with his wife and three children. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching sports, especially NASCAR, the Braves, and the Georgia Bulldogs, although he would remind you that his childhood team was the Boston Red Sox.   

He was preceded in death by his parents, Isidore J. DuBois and Mina Basinet DuBois; his sisters, Rita Landry, Loretta Starzyk, Gertrude Vaillant, Jeanne Charron, and Yvette Lapointe; and his brothers, Isidore DuBois, Armand DuBois, Robert DuBois, and Stewart DuBois. Richard’s survivors include his loving, devoted wife of 60 years, Sharon McAvoy DuBois; his sister, Fabiola DuBois Cutler of Putnam, Connecticut; his son, Richard DuBois (Sherry); his daughters, Debra Harper (Shane); and Sherri Bailey (John) his six grandchildren, Adam, Caitlyn and Sydney Harper; John David, Garner and Reese Bailey.

The family has not planned a Gathering of Remembrance at this time.
