Mr. Robert Donald “Donnie” Calhoun, 76 of Dogwood Dr., Ninety Six, South Carolina entered into rest on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at University Hospital, Augusta.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 3 pm at Siloam Baptist Church. Following the service at the church, Mr. Calhoun’s body will be taken by horse drawn hearse to the Bethlehem Cemetery where his parents, along with many other family members are laid to rest. The family will receive friends on Monday beginning at 2pm until the hour of the service in the Siloam Baptist Church sanctuary.
Mr. Calhoun, son of the late Robert C. and Pauline Jones Calhoun was born on July 29, 1942 in Greenwood County and grew up in the Siloam Community. He was a 1960 graduate of Ninety Six High School and later graduated from the College of Commerce in Greenwood. He had served on the Charleston University Board of Visitors, Past President of the South Carolina Society of Public Accountants, and served on the Board of Governors for the National Society of Public Accountants. He owned his own accounting firm, Donnie Calhoun and Associates in Greenwood for over 40 years, retiring just a few years ago. In addition, he had owned Cambridge Builders, Wood Products Inc. and Southern Wood Industries. He was a member of South Main Baptist Church and his interests included fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Joshua Turner Calhoun and Jeanette Alford.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Price Calhoun; son, Robert Todd Calhoun and wife Wendy of Ninety Six, SC; daughter, Charlar Calhoun Weigle and husband John of Augusta; brother, Julius P. Calhoun and wife Sonya of Ninety Six, SC; and grandchildren, Austin Carson, Maye-Stevens Weigle, John Bresnahan Weigle, III, Turner Calhoun, and Chambers Calhoun.
