Obituary

Polly Mae Holloway, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2023, in McCormick, South Carolina. Born on June 7, 1934, in Laurens, South Carolina, Polly was a beacon of positivity and joy to all who knew her.

Polly was a proud graduate of John de la Howe School and a dedicated member of the Republican United Methodist Church. She spent her career at McCormick Mill, where she retired after many years of service. In her retirement, she continued to give back to her community, volunteering with the PTO at Long Cane Academy.

Polly was a woman of many talents and interests. She had an affinity for shopping and makeup, always looking her best and encouraging others to do the same. She was a gifted craftswoman, creating beautiful wood crafts and jewelry. Polly also had a passion for painting and sewing, hobbies that she often shared with her family and friends. Her love for music was infectious, and she was known for her delicious baked goods. Polly was fond of yard work, finding joy in the beauty of nature and the fruits of her labor.

Polly's energy and zest for life were unparalleled. She was often referred to as the family's "energizer bunny," always on the go and ready for the next adventure. Polly's love for her family was evident in everything she did. She reveled in spending time with her loved ones, whether it was a simple family dinner or a grand holiday celebration.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Heather Pulley (John), grandson Jeremy Hodges (Amber), Michael Golden, Mitch Golden, Mark Golden, and great-grandchildren Kylee Pulley, Katie Pulley, John John Pulley, Wyatt Hodges, Tori Hodges. Polly also leaves behind her siblings Earl Strickland (Rosemarie), Sissy Allegood, and the brothers and sisters of John de la Howe school, along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Linda Holloway Hodges (James), and Judy Wilkie, as well as five of her brothers.
