Mrs. Patricia Ann “Patsy” Hammond Powell, 86 of Elm St., Lincolnton, Ga. entered into rest on Monday, December 21, 2020 at her residence.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Goshen Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the morning worship service which should conclude around noon.
Mrs. Powell, daughter of the late Raymond and Kate Parks Hammond, was a native of Elbert County where she grew up and graduated from high school. Afterwards, she received a Bachelor’s degree from Lander University and taught school several years before her children were born. Later she worked as a secretary for the Atlanta area Republican party for many years. During her husband Gene’s career in upper management with AT&T, they lived in numerous cities on both the East and West coasts. Following retirement, they moved back to Lincolnton to live in her husband’s childhood home on Elm Street in Lincolnton. She had been an active member in her home church, Goshen Baptist. Her son, Tommy Powell preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Gene Powell; sons, Randy Powell and Jimmy Powell both of Lincolnton; brother, Ray Hammond of Statesboro, Ga.; grandchildren, Katie P. Lee, Leigh Anne Powell, and Brandon Powell; great- grandchildren, Lila Anne Lee, Vivian Lee, Amira Jaghab, and Kylie Jaghab.
