Nina Gunnels
Mrs. Nina Padgett Gunnels, 84, of Peachtree City, GA entered her heavenly home Monday, September 1, 2020.
Nina grew up in the Mesena Community of Warren County, GA and was the daughter of the late Farrell Field Padgett and the late Emmie Bledsoe Padgett. She met Rolf Gunnels in church in Mesena, GA and they married in 1951. They lived in a variety of places spending the majority of their time in Warrenton, GA. She had a Master’s Degree in speech pathology and retired from the Columbia County Board of Education. Nina’s love for Jesus led her to go on many mission trips, to serve as Ladies’ Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church, Warrenton, and as an active member of Flat Creek Baptist Church, Fayetteville. In addition to her parents, Nina was predeceased by a daughter, Kim Gunnels.
Survivors include her husband of almost 69 years, Rolf Gunnels; daughter, Judy Chandler and husband, Jim of Senoia, GA; brother Bonny Padgett and wife, Brenda of Middleburg, FL; grandchildren, Kristie Enne and husband, Niko, of Newnan, GA and Josh Chandler of Atlanta, GA; and great grandchildren, Riley Enne, Nathan Enne, and Benjamin Enne.
A graveside service will be held at 11 o’clock, Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the mission organization that Nina so enjoyed joining on many mission trips: Kilpatrick Baptist Association, P.O. Box 895, Thomson, GA 30824.
Per CDC requirements the family will be observing social distancing and masks are requested.
