Mrs. Dean Parton Flanigan, affectionately known as “Mama Dean” of Lincolnton entered into rest on Thursday, July 23, 2020. She was 88 years old.
Due to the COVD 19 pandemic, the funeral will be private. A public memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Flanigan, daughter of the late Furman and Lillie Mae Walker Parton, was born in Lincoln County on April 22, 1932. She has lived in Lincolnton her whole life and was a devoted member of Martin’s Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church. She shared a great love for the Shingle Hollow Campground in North Carolina with her family and loved ones. Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, and travelling to yard sales in search of good deals. What a great reunion it must have been on the morning of her death when she was reunited with her loved ones that preceded her in death including her husband, Everette Flanigan II, daughter, Beth Keener, brothers, Ray Parton and Johnny Parton.
She will be greatly missed by all that knew her including her daughter, Carol F. Johnson and husband Johnny; sons, Robert E. Flanigan, III and wife Gail, John David Flanigan and wife Renee and her sisters that were also her best friends, Peggy Parton Saggus and Myrtle Parton Belangia; 10 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren.
