Michelle Yawn Roberts Kelley
Ms. Michelle Yawn Roberts Kelley, 50, of Mitchell, GA went to be with her Lord on July 13, 2020 at her home.
Michelle was a lifelong resident of Glascock County, born to Charles Christopher Roberts, Sr. and the late Joyce Black Roberts Greiner. As a child, Michelle enjoyed dancing ballet, playing Frogger, and spending time with her grandparents “Mommie” and “Grandaddy”. Michelle’s passion and love for children lead her to work at Small World Daycare, and then as a paraprofessional in the pre-K classroom at Glascock County Consolidated School System for the past eighteen years. She looked forward to going to school everyday, because she loved the children she taught. She loved bright colors and always expressed her radiant personality through dressing in bright and cheerful colors and prints paired with perfectly matched jewelry. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Thomson. Michelle was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt and friend who truly loved life, the Lord, her family, and children. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her father, Charles Roberts Sr. (Lucy) of Chauncey, Georgia; sisters, Melanie Harper of Ovilla, Texas and Cynthia White (Steve) of Evans, Georgia; brother, Charles Roberts, Jr. (Gina) of Mitchell, Georgia; nieces and nephews, Meaghan Kelly (Michael), Jocelyn Millender (John), Brett White (Brianne), Cory Collins (Jenny Kay), Ryan Collins (Lauren), Ashton Collins, Phillip Usry; several great nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Raymond Brinkley of Thomson, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Black Roberts Greiner.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2020 in Bethel Baptist Church, Thomson with the Rev. Tim Ferrell officiating. A Graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery Mitchell, Georgia. The family requests that you please dress colorfully for the services in honor of Michelle.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2020. Due to the current National State of Emergency there will be no visitation at the residence. The family would appreciate any phone calls, emails, cards and text messages during this time.
In lieu of floral offerings, the family asks that backpacks filled with school supplies be brought to the service to be donated to Glascock County Consolidated School System to honor Michelle’s love for the children, staff and administration at Glascock County Schools.
If anyone would like to contribute backpacks but is unable to attend visitation or one the services, the Glascock County Sheriff’s Department will serve as a drop off location and deliver them to the funeral or school.
