Mellot Dean Boone

Mr. Mellot Dean Boone, 87, Thomson, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 4, 2022, at Piedmont Augusta Hospital.

Dean was born in Dublin, Georgia on May 2, 1934 to the late Avery N. Boone and Lucille Keen Boone. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Thomson, Georgia and was a member of the Mens Bible Class. Dean worked for Ft. Gordon in communications and then for GBI.  He enjoyed going to his lake house, riding in his boat, loved golf, traveling and especially loved spending time with his family and friends.

Mr. Boone is preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Joyce Shepard Boone; his parents; his brothers, Delma Boone and Nelson Boone; and his sisters, Canoye Mercer and Carol Colson.  He is survived by his son, Randy Boone of Augusta; daughter, Beverley Crackel of Hephzibah; his sister, Faye Brinson; six grandchildren, Philip E. Thompson (Katie), Carl T. Pryor III, Owen Ben Pryor, April Boone, Hannah Boone and Justin Dean Boone (Natasha); six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Thomson, Georgia with Dr. David Lambert officiating.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time with the interment at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Philip E. Thompson, Carl T. Pryor III, Owen Ben Pryor and Justin Boone. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Mens Bible Class.
