Mary Linda Booker

Mary Linda Booker, a lifelong resident of Lincolnton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2023, in Thomson, Georgia. Born on May 1, 1957, in Lincolnton, she was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to many.

Mary Linda was the cherished mother of Christopher Lance Booker and Trey Booker. She was a loving grandmother to Allanah Booker, Nytayvious Carter, Zalynn Wynn, Jakyias Smith and a dear sister to Ann Booker, Bertha Booker, Teresa Booker, Lisa Wilder, Brenda Barksdale and Lonzo Booker; special cousin, Benjamin Clark and special friends Coach Larry Campbell and wife Connie and former co-worker, Mary Glaze Calhoun. Mary Linda was predeceased by her parents, James and Naomi Lane Booker, as well as her siblings Roger, Willie James, George Aaron, Marshall, Helen, and Patricia Booker.

A graduate of Lincoln County High School, Mary Linda was a dedicated worker and public servant. She served as the chief jailer at the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department for many years, a role she fulfilled with integrity and commitment. She also worked at Mt Vernon Mills, demonstrating her strong work ethic and dedication. At the time of her passing, she was serving as a bus chaperone for the Lincoln County Board of Education, a role that allowed her to connect with and support the youth in her community. When she wasn’t working, she was fishing or working in her yard always keeping it neat as a pin.

Mary Linda united with Ebenezer Baptist Church at a young age and was a choir member for many years. Her sense of humor and down-to-earth nature made her a joy to be around. She was thoughtful, always considering the needs of others before her own. Her legacy of love, compassion, and service will live on through her family and all those who knew her.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Linda Booker will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 1pm at Freedom Ministries Church. Interment will follow at Smith Chapel Cemetery. Repast will be held at Freedom Ministries Church. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Friday evening from 5pm until 6pm at the funeral home. LCHS class of 1976 will serve as flower ladies and pallbearers.
