Mary Elizabeth “Mu” Knox Howard, 87, of Thomson, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, October 1, 2023, her late husband’s birthday. She was the wife of the late Russell Pierce Howard. She was also preceded in death by her parents, John Jordan Knox and Mary Belle Mobley Knox; her daughter, Ann Howard Cloud; her son-in-law, Jimmy Bohler and her great granddaughter, Natalie Isabelle Bohler.
Mary Howard, grew up in Appling, Georgia, where she attended Leah Community School and graduated from Harlem High School as Salutatorian of her class. As a girl, she attended Kiokee Baptist Church where she was baptized and later was a member of Sweetwater Baptist. Mary was a homemaker, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Jan Bohler of Thomson; her grandchildren, Jennifer Padgett (Timmy), Russell Bohler, Bryan Bohler, Michael Wilkerson (Dawn) and Ruby Bohler-Davis (Dennis); her great grandchildren, Hailey Padgett, Travis Padgett, Shellby Bohler, James Russell Bohler, Dallas Bohler, Nathaniel Davis and Samantha Holliman and her great great granddaughters Archer Battle, Jordan Holliman, Emmalee Holliman, Rylee Holliman and Alexis Holliman; her brothers, Pete Knox (Barbara) and Gene Knox (Yvonne) of Appling; her sister, Carolyn Wiggins of Jacksonville, Florida and her son-in-law, Jim Cloud.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Road, Thomson, Georgia. Her funeral service will be in the Chapel on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles Reese and Phillip Knox officiating.
