Mary Oxford Conaway Denton, 93, of Iron Hill Rd., Dearing, GA entered into rest January 6, 2021 at her residence.
Mrs. Denton grew up in the Shoal’s area of Washington County, GA and John Oxford and the late Emmie Clyde Ackridge Oxford. She graduated from Sparta High School. Mrs. Denton was retired and had worked with Carter’s in Sandersville and at the Ingram Clock and Watch Plant in North Carolina. She lived in Mitchell most of her life before moving to Dearing. She was an avid reader, enjoyed dressing up and dancing. Mrs. Denton was a faithful member of Fort Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Ginny Langham of Camak, GA and Shirley Smith of Dearing, GA; 5 grandchildren, Sandy Tharpe(Russell), Scotty Langham, Beverly Griswell, Jennifer Griswell, Amber McIntire (Stanley); 15 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm, Friday, January 8, 2021 at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm, January 9, 2021 at the Fort Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Tim Williams, Rev. Jim Martin and Brother Roger Avery officiating. Pallbearers will be: Stanley McIntire, Russell Tharpe, Dillon Griswell, Jay Marshall, Walker Tharpe, and Tommy Yarborough.
It is the family’s desire that memorial contributions be made to Fort Creek Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
Per CDC requirements the family will be observing social distancing. Masks are required and appriciated. Due to the current national health concern, the family would appreciate all phone calls, cards, texts, and e-mails.
