Mr. Marvin R. McAvoy, 84 of Greensboro Hwy., Washington, Ga entered into rest Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at his residence.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Clark’s Station Baptist Church with Rev. Preston Sanders officiating. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service.
Charles Chafin, Frank Bentley, Pete Kopecky, Dr Gene Pollock, Buzzy Randall, Winfred Jones, Jeff Smith, David Dozier and David Garrard will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. McAvoy, son of the late William Thomas and Florence Tucker McAvoy, was a lifelong resident of Wilkes County , a retired dairy farmer. and a member of First Baptist Church, Washington..
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mrs. Oleta Echols McAvoy, his son, Bruce McAvoy, and brother, Mitchell McAvoy.
Survivors include his daughter, Susan Swantner and husband Michael of Corpus Christi, TX.; sons, Roger McAvoy, and wife Jennifer and David McAvoy,; sister, Peggy McAvoy Vandiver, and brother, W.D. “Billy” McAvoy all of Washington; grandchildren, Morgan McAvoy Lawson and husband, Tim of Tignall, Charles McAvoy of Washington, Ginger McAvoy DiMascio and husband Brad of Greensboro, Laura Ellen McAvoy Christian and husband Tom of Smyrna, Ga, Abby McAvoy Webster and husband Patrick of Eatonton, Ga., Matthew Swantner and wife Bess of San Antonio, TX., Emily Swantner Cunningham and husband Blake of Austin, TX., Daniel Swantner and wife Sarah of Houston, TX.; and nine great grandchildren.
