Martha Ann Poole

Martha Ann Poole, 82, of Gibson, GA went to be with her loving Savior April 30, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family.  She was the loving wife of the late Donald “Don” S. Poole.

She was the only child of the late Florene Chalker Poole and the late Glynn Marvin Poole. Martha was born and raised in Glascock County, GA and a graduate of the Glascock County Class of 1957. She worked at the VA Medical Center and retired after 33 years of service. Following retirement, Martha worked as a special education para pro with the Glascock County Schools and retired after 10 years.

Martha was a Godly woman strong in her faith.  She was a dedicated and devoted member of Gibson Baptist Church where she loved teaching Sunday School and serving as the church pianist.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling, reading, shopping trips, fishing, and going out to special restaurants. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family that she loved unconditionally.

Those who are left to cherish her memory are her children, Michael Poole, Debbie Poole and Donna P. Brooks (Bob); grandchildren, Laura Hillman (Brandon), Kenzie May (Chris Williams), Rider Brooks (Sarah Gilbert); great grandchildren, Abbigayle Hillman, Harper Hillman and expected in July, Lailoni Ann Williams and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.  

Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, May 3, 2022 in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home, Thomson with Rev. Mason Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Avera.  Pallbearers will be: Dwayne Schultz, Chris Halcame, Ryan Brooks, Jordan Tankersley, Matt Gordy, Robert Mitts, Tylor Matherly and Everette Guy. Honorary pallbearers will be: Debbie Williford, Rosemarie Davis, Mahala Anderson and Glascock County Class of 1957.  A special request of the family is those attending please dress colorful and bright. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm, Monday at the funeral home.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Heartland Hospice for all of the kindness and excellent care they provided for Martha during her illness.
