Mrs. Margaret Ferguson Edmunds McDowell, 92, wife of the late Raymond McDowell of the Amity Community of Lincoln County, Ga. entered into rest on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Doctors Hospital, Augusta, Ga.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, Thomson.
Mrs. McDowell, daughter of the late Walter Lee “Judge” and Mary Etta Hammond Ferguson, was a lifelong resident of Lincoln County. The matriarch of her family in every sense of the word, she was a homemaker and had been bookkeeper for Lon Edmunds Sawmilling. Also, she was the oldest member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Other family members that preceded her in death include her first husband, Lon Edmunds, granddaughter, Jennifer Edmunds and her siblings including Walter Lee Ferguson, Jr., Hammond Ferguson, Evelyn F. Smalley, Hugh Allen Ferguson, Alex Ferguson and Jack Ferguson.
Survivors include her sons Lonnie Edmunds (Callie) of Lincolnton, Garrett Edmunds (Cathy) of Thomson, James Allen Edmunds (Courtney) of Atlanta and Walter Edmunds (Susan) of Augusta; grandchildren, Freddie Edmunds, Earl Edmunds (Sunshine), Catherine Woods (Clinton), Amber Edmunds, Allen Edmunds, Adam Edmunds; great-grandchildren, Emerson Powell, Willow Edmunds, Cullen Powell, London Edmunds, Jonas Woods, and Maris Cate Woods.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6pm until 8pm at the funeral home
