Stapleton, Georgia

Mrs. Maitland Wright Hobbs, 81, of Stapleton, Georgia, entered into rest on July 14, 2021.

Mrs. Hobbs was born in Chester, South Carolina on September 28, 1939, grew up there, and lived in Stapleton most of her married life.  She was the daughter of the late Frank and Zelma Wright.  She was a Warren County school bus driver for 14 years.  She was also a homemaker and known for her homemade biscuits, she loved cooking and especially loved her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Wright and Zelma Proctor Wright; her husband, Joseph Davis Hobbs, Sr.; her sisters, Virginia Salina (Tommy) and Maureen Anspaugh; and her daughter, Desiree Cushman.  Her survivors include her sons, Bobby Thomas (Beth), Greensboro, Georgia and Jody Hobbs, Thomson, Georgia; her daughter, Carmen Cromer (Hal), Appling, Georgia; her Aunt, Ruth Proctor; her Grandchildren, Jack Thomas, Will Thomas and Emily Hobbs.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel, Thomson, Georgia with visitation being held one hour before the service.  The Interment will follow in the Zoar United Methodist Church Cemetery, Stapleton, Georgia.  Please visit www.beggsfuneralhome.net to sign the family’s personal guestbook.

The Pallbearers for the service will be Jim Rease, Christopher Rease, Jammie Smith, Joey Smith, Mark Hobbs, Barry Russel and Wright Perdue.

The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers, Kimberly Heard and Sharon Rivers.

Per CDC requirements, the family will be observing social distancing, and masks are requested and appreciated.  Due to the current national health concern, the family would appreciate any phone calls, cards, texts, and e-mails.
