Linda Nell Land Norman passed away peacefully on October 30, 2023, in Athens, Georgia. She was born on December 14, 1948, in Lithia Springs, Georgia, to Harry Prentiss Land Sr. and Loyce Bright Land.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Pope's Chapel followed by the burial in the church cemetery.
Linda spent her early years in Lithia Springs, but she called Wilkes County home for 21 years. From a young age, Linda knew she wanted to be a nurse. Her dream became a reality when she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Dekalb College in 1987. Throughout her career, she held various positions as a Registered Nurse, but her most cherished role was that of a hospice nurse. Linda found joy in connecting with her patients and their families, providing comfort and care during their most challenging times.
Linda was a woman of many passions. She was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, never missing a game, even from her hospital bed. Her love for reading was only surpassed by her love for antique shopping, where she found unique treasures and pieces of history. Linda's love for animals was evident in her adoration for dogs and cats.
However, Linda's most significant passion was her family. She was a devoted mother to her three children: Robin Tyler (Brian), Jill Henderson (Jason), and Andrew Norman (Karen). She was a loving grandmother to her twelve grandchildren: Ariel Thompson (Patrick), Jade Moore, Gracie and Branden Tyler, Mason Prater, Chloe, Lucas, and Chandler Henderson, Joshua, Justin, Jackson, and Jett Norman. She also had the joy of becoming a great-grandmother to Hazel Moore. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Harry Land Jr., and her sister, Becky Pilgrim. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Benson Joel Norman, her parents, Harry Prentiss Land Sr. and Loyce Bright Land, and her sister, Bonnie Bolson.
Linda's love for her family was boundless, and she took great pride in caring for each of her grandchildren, making them feel loved and special.
Linda was active in her community, volunteering her time as a team mom for softball teams and serving in the PTA when her children were in school. Her dedication to serving others extended beyond her professional life, touching the lives of many in her community.
Linda Nell Land Norman will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, care, and service will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
