Mr. Edgar Leon Crook, Sr. 68 of Pennington Lane, Lincolnton, Ga. entered into rest on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Augusta University Medical Center.
Mr. Crook, son of the late Joe Warren Crook and Mady Ann Massey Collins, was born on October 14, 1952 in Lincoln County. He grew up in Lincolnton and graduated from Lincoln County High School in 1972. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Brenau University. He served an enlistment in the US Army and had been employed as a deputy sheriff by many local agencies including Lincoln County, Edgefield County, McCormick County and had served as chief of police in Boston, Ga. Afterwards, he worked as a probation officer in Waynesboro and went on serve as an officer for the South Carolina Department of Corrections at McCormick Correctional Facility where he later retired. Also, he was a member of Goshen Baptist Church. Following retirement, Leon played golf every chance that he got.
Survivors include his sons, Edgar L. “Eddie” Crook, Jr. and wife Laural of West Virginia, Jason Crook and wife, Sara of West Columbia, SC; daughter, Becky Crook of Kapolei, HI; his twin brother, Lynn Crook and wife Carolyn of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Kayden Crook, Whitley Crook, Aiden Tashiro, Cody Tashiro, and Wendy Raley.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 2pm at Goshen Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery with military honors
