Mr. Lawrence “Larry” Spencer Lloyd, 77, of Goldman Johnson Road, Lincolnton, passed away at his residence on January 12, 2022. He was born to the late Joseph Calvin Lloyd, Sr. and Alice Loretta Reynolds Lloyd in Washington, D.C. in 1944. Larry lived many years in the Largo, Florida area before moving back to Lincolnton. He enjoyed numerous business endeavors some of which were the owner and operator of L & J Trucking and The Wagon Wheel Country Store. One of his favorite hobbies was truck pulling and his pull trucks were named “Larry’s Gunsmoke” and “Stand On It”.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lloyd was predeceased by his wife, Jackie Newman Emery Lloyd, sisters, Sandra Lloyd, Dolores Lloyd, and brothers, Robert A. Lloyd, Joseph C. Lloyd, Jr. and James W. Lloyd.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Teresa L. Medina, Richmond, Virginia, step-daughters, Sherry E. McKellar, Lincolnton, Julia E. Grech (Mario), Lincolnton, and Donna E. Shockley (Harold), Abbeville, South Carolina, sisters, Geraldine C. Hallisy, Augusta, and Patricia Burriss, Maryland, grandchildren, Daniel McKellar, Jason McKellar, Melissa Hinton, James Quarles, Harold Shockley Jr., Blake Shockley, and 14 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
A memorial service is planned for Friday, January 21, 2022, at 4:00 PM at Lincolnton First Assembly of God.
