Larry Joseph Schneider, 77 of McCormick, SC passed away peacefully on September 13, 2023, in Greenwood, South Carolina. Born on October 1, 1945, in Ft Wayne, Indiana, Larry was a spirited individual who carried his zest for life wherever he went.
He was born in Ft Wayne, Indiana, where he was born and raised. He graduated from Southside High School in 1963 and went on to serve his country with pride and honor in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War.
After his time in the military, Larry began a distinguished career with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an air traffic controller. He served in various cities including South Bend, Detroit, Ft Wayne, and Indianapolis. He eventually retired as a supervisor, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and professionalism.
Upon retirement, Larry and his beloved wife Kay relocated to McCormick, South Carolina, where he discovered a passion for fishing and golfing. His skill on the green was undeniable, as he became a seven-time club champion and a six-time senior champion at Savannah Lakes.
Larry's love for life didn't stop at the golf course. He was an avid traveler, having visited far-flung destinations such as Australia, Hawaii, Vietnam, Alaska, and the Bahamas. He also had a fondness for casinos, where he enjoyed the thrill of live poker and video poker. If Larry wanted to do something, he did it, and he did it exceptionally well.
He is survived by his sons, Derek Schneider of Ft Wayne, Indiana, and Tony Schneider and his wife Sara of Franklin, Indiana. He also leaves behind his brothers, Edward Schneider of Auburn, Indiana, and Bobby Schneider of Columbia City, Indiana. Larry was a cherished grandfather to Jessica Schneider, Jordan Schneider, Brianna Schneider, Adam Ventura, Emily Ventura and great- grandfather to Lukas and Jace Ventura.
Larry's life was a testament to a life well-lived. He was a spirited individual who loved life and lived it to the fullest. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all those who had the privilege of knowing him
