Obituary

Larry Joseph Miller, 75 of Lincolnton passed away surrounded by his family and friends on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 in Augusta, Georgia. He was born on February 15, 1948, in Cumberland, Maryland to the late Leo and Zelma Cecelia Bridges Miller.

Larry was raised in a Catholic family in Cumberland, where he graduated from Ft Hill High School. Afterwards, he proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. His early years in Maryland instilled in him a strong work ethic and he relocated to Bedford, PA, where he worked at the Kelly Tire Factory until its closure. In 1983, Larry moved to Lincolnton and began a career as a painter with the Augusta Local #1730 during the construction of Plant Vogtle.

In 1993, Larry put his handy skills to use and he and Mike Graham opened L&M Painting. He painted with passion and dedication until his health began to decline a year prior to his passing.

Larry's love for the outdoors was undeniable. He was a member of the Bucket Mouth Bassmaster's Club and the Blue Line Fishing Club, where he indulged in his love for fishing and boating. His love for the water extended to the lake, where he spent countless hours enjoying the serene environment. Larry was also an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. He had a love for adventure that was evident in his enjoyment of riding his Harley Davidson and his fascination with hotrods.

Family was the cornerstone of Larry's life and he will be greatly missed by the love of his life, Elizabeth Hale, with whom he shared 24 years; children, Eric Miller and wife Amy of Lincolnton, Monte Miller and fiancée Erica Miller of Lincolnton, and Andrea M. Anderson and husband Payton of Dahlonega, Kyle Miller and wife Cara of Lincolnton. Larry also leaves behind his brothers, Steve Miller and wife Janet of Augusta, Ben Miller and wife Jane of Evans, Fred Miller and wife Dee of Pennsylvania, Ronnie Miller and wife Linda of Arizona, and Royce Miller and wife Renee of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Megan M. Cunningham, Cameron Miller, Abigail Miller, Breanna Beverly, Elliott Lance, Miller Lance, Emerie Miller, and Everly Miller. He also had the joy of becoming a great-grandfather to Hensley Hoch, last but not least, his Overlook Crew. Larry's love for his family was undeniable, and he often expressed how proud he was of each of them.

Larry's life was a testament to his resilience, hard work, and love for his family. He will forever be remembered for his handy skills, his love for the outdoors, and his unwavering support for the Georgia Bulldogs. Above all, Larry will be remembered for his love for his family. His legacy will live on through the lives of those he loved and cherished.
