Kathy Hawkins, 71, Thomson, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on June 20, 2022.

Kathy was born in Augusta, Georgia on July 9, 1950, grew up in Thomson, Georgia, graduated from Thomson High School, earned an Associate Degree in Business from Abraham Baldwin College and graduated from Crowell Institute of Real Estate.  Her professional affiliations and accomplishments include being a member of the Georgia and National Association of Realtors and the Greater Augusta Board of Realtors, MLS Service, and she was a Certified Negotiations Expert (CNE), Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR, Seller Representative Specialist (SRS) and a Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES). 

Kathy had a heart for serving her community. Throughout her career, she served as a board member on the Thomson Family Y Board of Directors, served in the McDuffie County seat on the board of commissioners for the East Georgia Housing Authority, served on the Thomson-McDuffie Land Bank Authority, and served two terms as a board member on the Thomson-McDuffie County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Kathy’s service was well-received and recognized by being named Volunteer of the Year, receiving the Chairman’s Award by the Chamber of Commerce, and being voted as a “Best Real Estate Agent” through the McDuffie Progress newspaper. She was still actively working as a licensed realtor and had worked with the Wilson Company since 1993. Kathy enjoyed fishing and traveling, loved spending time with her friends and especially loved spending time with her family and husband of 46 years, James Hawkins.

Mrs. Hawkins is preceded in death by her parents, James Stovall Kelley and Hazel Harrison Kelley and her daughters, Kathy Gilmer and Yvonne Sandifer.  Her survivors include her beloved husband, James Hawkins; her son, Ben Hawkins (Stephanie); her brother, Ronny Kelley (Anna); her sisters, Gail Stewart, Janice Hobbs and Rebecca Brinkley; and her grandchildren, Daymon Linkous, Olivia Lewis, Chase Gilmer, Cole Wright, Kyle Wright, Kaitlyn Ramsey, Ashlyn Sandifer, Dexter Hawkins and Anthony Hawkins.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at Westview Cemetery, Thomson, Georgia, being officiated by Rev.
