Judy Smith Palmer
Thomson, GA – Mrs. Judy Smith Palmer, 82, entered into rest February 9, 2021, at University Hospital, Augusta, Georgia.
Mrs. Palmer, the daughter of the late Hoke Smith and Jewell Forehand Smith, was born in Sandersville, GA. She lived most of her life in McDuffie County, earned an Associate’s Degree in Business from Georgia Southern and retired from McDuffie County School System as the Nutrition Director. After her retirement, she worked as the bookkeeper for the family business, Happy Valley Processing, until her death. Mrs. Palmer had a strong work ethic, and enjoyed spending time with her family, loved to read, going to the mountains, loved watching the Atlanta Braves, and being a caregiver. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Louisville but had attended Zoar United Methodist Church for many years.
Mrs. Palmer was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Don Palmer, Sr. Her survivors include her son, Donald Palmer, Jr. (Ponda); her daughter, Donna Gilliam (Russell); her sister, Martha Mathis (Wayne); her grandchildren, Donald “Franklin” Palmer, III, Turner Gilliam and Alex Gilliam; and special nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her Aunt Midge Williams.
A Private funeral service will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Faye Burgamy and Rev. Tim Pendrey, officiating. The interment will follow in the Louisville City Cemetery around 4:00 p.m.
