Joanne Holloway Winn

Joanne Holloway Winn, affectionately known as Joanne, passed away peacefully in Augusta, Georgia, on October 19, 2023, at the age of 87. Born on February 16, 1936, in the Double Branches Community of Lincolnton, Georgia, Joanne was a beacon of kindness and warmth to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was raised in the Double Branches Community and graduated from Lincolnton High School in 1954. She was a proud and dedicated Avon representative as well as a food sample hostess at Publix and Sam’s Club, who found joy in connecting with her customers and community. Joanne had a love for travel, always seeking new experiences and adventures. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a faithful member of the Double Branches Baptist Church.

Joanne was the beloved sister of Mrs. L.G. Goolsby and Mrs. Jeannette Moragne (Fremon), and the cherished wife of the late Robert Edgar "Bobby" Winn, Jr. She was preceded in death by her siblings, J.M. Holloway, Jr., Maudine Tankersley, Welcome Holloway, Joel Holloway, Easter Lillie Higginbotham, and Henry Will Holloway.

She held a special place in her heart for her 17 nieces and nephews, as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Although she never had children of her own, she loved her nieces, nephews, and their children as if they were her own. Her kindness extended beyond her family to her church community and friends. Joanne had a kind spirit and always greeted everyone with a big smile. Her genuine warmth and generosity of spirit will be deeply missed.

One of Joanne's most cherished traditions was sending greeting cards for birthdays, holidays, and during times of illness. There was never a holiday or birthday or illness that anyone who knew her didn't receive a greeting card from her. This thoughtful gesture was a testament to Joanne's caring nature and her dedication.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at 2pm at Double Branches Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:15pm until the hour of the service at the church.
