Mrs. Joan Boyd Polker, 88 of Court Ground Rd.,, Washington, Ga. entered into rest on Saturday, May 25, 2019.
Mrs. Polker, daughter of the late Harwood and Helena Unsoeld Boyd, was born in Detroit, Michigan. She lived in Battle Creek for many years and retired from the Battle Creek Public School System in 1982. After retirement, she lived in Jenson Beach, Fl. before moving to Aiken, South Carolina. Following the death of her husband in 2003, Robert John Polker, she moved to Washington in 2004 to be near her daughter. She was a member of the Church of The Mediator, Washington and volunteered at the Robert Toombs Home.
She is survived by her son Terry Newton of Battle Creek, MI; daughters Gail Newton of McBain, MI and Janeth Robb of Washington, Ga.; grandchildren Leslie Robb, Jr., Abbie Brennan, Galen Newton, Joseph Newton, Nolan Newton and Annie Newton; great- grandchildren Sadie Brennan and Shane Brennan.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of The Mediator or Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
A celebration of Mrs. Polker’s life will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 at the Church of the Mediator, Washington at 11:30 a.m.
