Jane (Crook) Dawkins

Jane Crook Dawkins, a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on April 13, 2023, in Augusta, Georgia at the age of 69.

She was born on March 10, 1954, in Lincolnton, Georgia to the late Claude and Bettye Weber Crook. In her youth, Jane joined Hephzibah Baptist Church, where she found solace and guidance after the tragic loss of her parents when she was only 14 years old. Her sister Cyndi played a significant role in raising her, and the bond between the two sisters remained strong throughout Jane's life. In years past, she had served as a receptionist at Cullars Inn and FDB apparel.

Jane's love for her family was immeasurable, and she adored her two granddaughters, Olivia and Ava, with all her heart. She never hesitated to shower them with affection and never told them no, always wanting to see them happy. Her love extended to her loyal Jack Russell, Butterbean, who brought joy and companionship to her life.

With a zest for life, Jane was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed shopping and dining at her favorite restaurant, The Chop House. She also eagerly anticipated each new episode of American Idol, sharing her thoughts and excitement with her family and friends.

Jane is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Dawkins and husband Ben of Lincolnton; her brothers, Darrell Crook and wife Lily of Lincolnton, Mike Crook and wife Audrey of North Augusta; her sister, Cyndi McKay and husband Jim of Ten Mile, TN; her sister-in-law, Anne Crook of Lincolnton; her cherished grandchildren, Olivia and Ava; her beloved Jack Russell, Butterbean; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and infant daughter, she was preceded in death by her brother Tim Crook in January of this year.

Jane was a bright light in the lives of her family and friends, known for radiant beauty and unwavering love for her grandchildren. Rest in peace, Jane. Your beautiful spirit will always be remembered and cherished.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at 2pm in the sanctuary of Hephzibah Baptist Church followed by the funeral at 3pm with Rev. Allen Danner will officiating. Afterwards, she will be laid to rest in the church cemetery beside her infant daughter.
