James Donald Rivers, Jr., 62, Thomson, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on September 27, 2023.

James was born in Augusta, Georgia, on October 25, 1960, grew up in Thomson, and has lived in McDuffie County most of his life. He graduated from Briarwood Academy in the Class of 1978, earned his degree from Southern Tech as a Civil Engineer, worked many years with Knox Rivers Construction and most recently worked for 18 years as a Construction Project Manager with Pittman Construction.  James enjoyed hard work, hunting, fishing, and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Donald Rivers, Sr. and Grace Brigman Rivers, and his brother, Charles Edwin Rivers.  His survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Martha Lloyd Rivers; his daughter, Ashley Rivers; his son, Matthew Rivers (Chase); and his brother David Franklin Rivers (Jan).

His Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Road, Thomson, Georgia with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service.  Please visit www.beggsfuneralhome.net to sign the family’s personal guestbook.
