James Randolph “Randy” Griswell, 78, Thomson, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on October 31, 2023.
Randy was born on the Old Beckworth Place in Glascock County, Georgia on March 7, 1945, and has lived in McDuffie County most of his life. He retired as a Supervisor for the Water Department at the City of Thomson. In Randy’s earlier years, he was an avid Coon Hunter and treasured his coon hounds. He also enjoyed other hunting, including deer hunting, and enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Clyde Griswell and Nannie Lee Williams Griswell and his sisters, Ann Hughes Cowart, Faye Hughes Whiting and Lavon Griswell Wren. His survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Ann Malcom Griswell; his daughters, Judy Hobbs (Mike); Kay Lord (Doug) and Tonya Adams (Mark); his brother, Dennis Griswell; his grandchildren, Ben Hobbs (Shardonnay), Jordan Hobbs (Kaylee), Mayleigh Adams, Ethan Hobbs, Kaytie Lord (Joshua Stagner), Elizabeth Hobbs, Madison Adams (Cam McClelland) and Macy Lord (Evan Holbrook); great grandchildren, Preslynn Hobbs, Jenson Hobbs and Adalyn Hobbs and a special friend, Tommy Phillips, who was his hunting buddy and like a brother to him.
His Visitation will be held at Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Road, Thomson, Georgia on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and his Funeral Service will be held in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with his Interment following at Westview Cemetery. Rev. Stacy Phillips and Rev. Charles Reese will officiate the service.
