Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Gable Thomason Smith, 74, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at home in Lincolnton, Georgia from complications of a stroke. She was born June 26, 1946 to the late Helen Burdette Gable Outz and Ralph Gable. She was raised by her grandmother, the late Mamie Burdette of Calhoun Falls, SC.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Thomason and her youngest son, Jaye Thomason, both of Abbeville. Survivors include her husband of 20 years John (Buck) H. Smith; son, Jody Thomason (Carlie) of Peoria, AZ; grandson, Sam; granddaughter, Larkin; step-children Robert Smith (Bridgett) of Puyallup, WA, Marilyn Wright (Dan) of Washington, GA and Alice Hill of Thomson, GA and her longtime friend and caregiver Mrs. Lexie Ashmore and friend and caregiver Mrs. Dolly Bohler.
She graduated from Calhoun Falls High School and was of the Christian faith. Jackie was employed at the Abbeville Sheriff’s Department, Abbeville Shirt Makers, Self Memorial Hospital and Cliatt Crossing in Lincolnton. While working at Cliatt Crossing, she made many friends and was always willing to help anyone that she met. She loved her family, gardening, flowers and when possible, going to yard sales. She loved nothing more than finding a bargain or a rare piece of glass ware.
Jackie will be missed by her family and friends and remembered for her generous spirit and love for others.
Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Graveside funeral services were held at 3pm on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Martin Crossroads Holiness Church Cemetery.
