Idell Porter

On the evening of July 28th, 2020, Almighty God in his divine wisdom reached down and called home the soul of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Mrs. Idell Smith Porter and she departed this life and began her eternal journey with the lord and joining her husband, Jimmy “Stump” Porter; son, J.D. Smith; sisters, Annie Hogan, Eunice Freeman, Mary Frances Blackwell; brothers, George Wright and LC Wright.

Mrs. Porter, “Dell” was born on August 26, 1937 to the late Sammie and Francie Lou Davis Smith. She was a devoted mother and homemaker who enjoyed talking junk, fishing and her family. She was a member of Mt Zion Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory four children, Deloris Duncan (Earthy), Jeffrey Porter (Elizabeth), Patricia Porter (William), Kenneth Porter (Mary Maxine); two stepchildren, Rosemary Gresham (Silas) and Jimmy Lee Porter (Maxine); siblings, Daisy Johnson and Curtis Smith, 19 grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
