Henry Lee Terhune, 76, passed away June 14, 2022. The only son of the late Robert Joyce Terhune and
Jonnie Juanita Crozier Terhune, Henry was born February 4, 1946 in Washington, Georgia, Wilkes
County. Henry grew up in Lincolnton, Georgia. He accepted The Lord as his Savior and was baptized in
1963 at New Hope Baptist Church in Lincolnton, Georgia. He was a 1964 graduate of Lincoln County
High School where he enjoyed exhibiting cattle and being a member of the FFA.
Before moving to Fort Valley, Georgia in 1970 and beginning his 30-year career in education with the
Peach County School System, Henry attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and the University of
Georgia earning a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and teaching certification in Agricultural Education.
He began teaching Agricultural Education at Peach County Junior High and then at Peach County High
School. He was named Agricultural Education Teacher of the Year for Georgia and had the Georgia
Junior Livestock Show dedicated to him for 1977-78. Henry furthered his education by earning a Master
in Agricultural Education and a Specialist in Vocation Education and Administration before becoming the
Peach County High School Vocational Supervisor and Assistant Principal. He retired in 2000.
Besides being a dedicated father, grandfather, teacher, administrator, mentor, and friend, Henry was a
great cattleman. With the help of his late parents, his daughter, his son-in-law, and several close
friends, Henry realized his lifelong dream of owning and operating a small beef cattle farm where he
raised cattle for youth projects and homegrown beef. He was a member of the Georgia Cattleman’s
Association.
He was a member of Fort Valley First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and co-taught the
Withoft Men’s Sunday School class.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter Courtney Holland Terhune Turner, son-in-law Brenton
Howard Turner, grandchildren Abigail Turner, Jacob Turner, Anna Belle Turner, and Adaline Turner,
former wife Patricia Holland Aude, family and dear friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at Fort Valley First Baptist Church at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June
18, 2022. Visitation with a dessert fellowship will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at St. Paul United Methodist
Church in Lincolnton, Georgia.
