Harry Wade Varn, Jr.
Thomson, GA – Mr. Harry Wade Varn, Jr., 91, entered into rest November 1, 2019.
Mr. Varn, long-time resident of Thomson, was born in Walterboro, SC, the son of the late Harry Wade Varn, Sr. and the late Rosalee Mixon. He graduated from Clemson University, served with an engineering unit during the Korean War, worked for Yancey Brothers Caterpillar as a Sales Representative and later owned and operated Equipment Sales, Inc. Mr. Varn was an avid bird hunter, horse racing enthusiast, enjoyed the Belle Meade Hunt, and was a Clemson Football Fan. He was a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church and was a Mason.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Clara N. Varn; daughter, April Varn Welch (James) of Clinton, TN; sister, Rosalyn Varn Edwards (Billy) of Washington, NC; and grandchild, Arwyn Elizabeth Welch.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Thomson, GA with Father Ray Whiting officiating, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Thomson, GA.
