Gerald W. McGahee, Sr.
Dearing, GA – Mr. Gerald Watson McGahee, 74, entered into rest August 27, 2019.
Mr. McGahee, a lifelong resident of McDuffie County, was born in Augusta, Georgia, the son of the late Thomas Watson McGahee and the late Mary McCorkle McGahee. He worked as a mechanic for 43 years for Darrell Johnson Chevrolet , Johnson Chevrolet, and later Stokes-Hodges, Inc. Mr. McGahee enjoyed working on vehicles of all kinds, NASCAR, tractors, farming, TV Reality shows, and he loved his family. He was a Christian by faith. In addition to his parents, Mr. McGahee was predeceased by his brothers, Ray McGahee and Burke McGahee; and his sisters, Sarah Sealy and Mae Mobley.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Patricia McGahee; son, Gerald W. McGahee, Jr.; daughters, Angie McGahee (Joey), Shanda Hall (Donovia), and Mandy McGahee; brothers, David McGahee (June), Mack McGahee (Brenda); sisters, Jane Usry and Becky Fulcher (Tommy); grandchildren, T.J. Smith (Kelly), Dennali Grissom, Tristan McGahee, D.J. Hall, and Damari Hall; and great grandchild, William Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, August 30, 2019 in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Don Widener officiating. Interment will follow in the Dearing City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the funeral home.
