Dr. Katherine Stewart Allen, 78, Crawfordville, Georgia, entered into rest on August 24, 2021.

Dr. Allen was born in Crawfordville, Georgia on September 13, 1942.  She was the daughter of the late Harold Asbury Stewart and Sara Edith Atchison Stewart.  Katherine was a member of Jennings Baptist Church where she served as Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and Church Clerk.  She also served as pianist for many years.  She graduated from Alexander Stephens Institute (ASI) and Massey Business College and earned her BBA, MBA and PhD.  Dr. Allen was an active D.A.R. member, a member of the Taliaferro County Historical Society and served as the past director of the Azalea District – Garden Club of Georgia, and was an officer and member of the Sharon-Raytown Garden Club.  Her career lead her to work with the U.S. Forest Service -  U.S.D.A. for 35 years in Atlanta and Washington, D.C.  She taught computer classes in a 15 state area including Puerto Rico, was the Budget Officer/Program Manager in Washington, D.C., was an Instructor at Athens Technical College for 13 years and a Newspaper Reporter for the local newspaper, Advocate Democrat,  for nine years.  She was a world-wide traveler, cruiser and Friendship Force Member, a devout Christian and dearly loved her Lord and Savior.  Katherine loved to serve her community wherever she could, loved people and especially loved her family and friends.

Dr. Katherine Allen was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Sara Edith Stewart and her daughter, Pamela J. Kealy.  Her survivors include her husband of 45 years, John R. Allen; brother Randy Stewart (Jan) of Crawfordville, Georgia; sisters, Janice Lucy (Richard) of St. Johns, Florida, Susan Stowe (Dwain) of Warrenton, Georgia and Sandra Dawson (Pete) of Gibson, Georgia; stepson, Dennis R. Allen (Diane) of Snellville, Georgia; grandchildren Ashley Allen Johnson, Bryan Allen and Cheryl Allen, five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 2:00 p.m., Jennings Baptist Church, Crawfordville, Georgia with the Visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the Church before the service, and the interment following in the Church Cemetery.  The service will be officiated by Rev. John Autry, and the pallbearers are Dwain Stowe, Chris Stowe, Daniel Stewart, Bryan Allen, Charles Atchison, Larry Stewart, Mark Stewart, and Bill Dawson.  Please visit www.beggsfuneralhome.net to sign the family’s personal guestbook.
