Dr. Gene “Kyle” Smith, 74, Thomson, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on March 17, 2023.
Kyle was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on January 23, 1949, grew up in Lafayette, Georgia. He lived and worked most of his adult life as an OB/GYN throughout the state of Georgia. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, and his doctor of medicine and pharmacy degree from The Medical College of Georgia. During his career, he was a practicing Pharmacist and OB/GYN in areas across the state from St. Mary’s, Ga, Hazelhurst, GA and finally finishing his career in Washington, Ga. When Kyle wasn’t working, he spent his time coaching his sons and being an avid fan of their sports. After his kids were older, Kyle became an avid golfer who spent most of his days off on the course. As a huge fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, he attended many games with his sons to cheer on his alma mater.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Lee Smith and Jewell Bridges Smith. Kyle’s survivors include his sons, Kevin Smith (Deidre) and Keith Smith (Amy); nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
