Donald Gene Chalker

Mr. Donald G. “Don” Chalker, 74 of  Lincolnton, Ga. entered into rest on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Camellia Walk, Evans, Ga.

Mr. Chalker, son of the late G.B. and Maude Sheppard Chalker, was born on September 11, 1945 in Gibson where he grew up. Many Gibson residents may recall him as a child riding his little white scooter all around town. In 1963, he graduated from Glascock County High School and later attended Clarksville Technical School where he received certification as a HVAC technician. When he was younger, he also obtained his private pilot visual and instrument ratings. In addition, he received a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Don had several jobs before settling with the Georgia Department of Revenue where he served as a field agent for over 28 years. Following retirement, he served as an auditor for IFTA. He has been a resident of Lincolnton for 46 years and attended First Assembly of God.

Don was a good man that would help anyone that he could. He always figured out how to work smarter not harder. He was preceded in death by his sisters Edna Bowen, Margaret Thompson and brothers B.A. Chalker, Garvin Chalker, and Calvin Chalker.

He was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by his wife, Beckie Sammons Chalker; daughters, Renee C. Freeman and husband Tommy of Aiken, Tammie C. Norman and husband Greg of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Casey Norman and wife Katelyn of Lincolnton, Dylan Norman of Lincolnton, Anna Freeman of Aiken; great- grandchildren, Morgan Norman and Lucy Norman; sister,  Ruth Reese of Martinez.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1761 Hwy 171 S., Gibson, Ga. with social distancing guidelines observed.

The family has asked that contributions be made to First Assembly of God, P.O. Box 457, Lincolnton, Ga 30817 or Fellowship Baptist Church, 1761 Hwy 171 S., Gibson, Ga. 30810.
