David Eugene Hughes, 65, Thomson, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on August 16, 2022.

David was born in Thomson, Georgia on October 21, 1956, and lived his entire life in Thomson.  He graduated from Briarwood Academy in 1974 before studying electronics at Augusta Technical College and beginning his career with UPS and Superior Alarm & Fire Equipment.  He was Baptist by faith and a member of First Baptist Church Thomson. David enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling and spending time in the mountains.  He was an avid Georgia Bulldog Fan and always enjoyed the football season.  David was a man of faith and loved his Lord and Savior and loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Eugene Hughes and Evelyn Newsome Hughes.  His survivors include his wife, Page Hughes, his sons, Brice Hughes (Julie) of Thomson, Blake Hughes (Maggie) of St. Simons, John Graham (Ginny) of Athens and Rob Graham (Shelby) of Evans; his daughter, Elizabeth Graham of Wrens; the mother of David’s children, Cindy Thomas Edelmann; his brothers, Mark Hughes (Michelle) and Van Hughes of Thomson; his grandchildren, Bradford Graham, Watson Graham, Denton Graham, Grayson Graham and Walker Russell. 

The family will receive friends in the Atrium of First Baptist Church Thomson, 253 Jackson Street, Thomson, Georgia 30824, on August 19, 2022, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. with his Funeral Service, being officiated by Dr. David Lambert and Rev. Larron Pilgrim, following at 2:00 p.m. and the interment following at Savannah Valley Memorial Garden, Thomson, Georgia.  Pallbearers for the service are Keith Land, Bryan Rogers, Terry Josey, Jay Mixon, Michael Hughes and Rick Thomas.  Honorary Pallbearers will be his UPS brothers and sisters.  Please visit www.beggsfuneralhome.net to sign the family’s personal guestbook.
