Clifford Alvin Chafin, 92, of Washington, GA passed away peacefully at his home, surronded by his immediate family, on August 25, 2023 .
Alvin was a retired veteran of the United States Army and Navy, and proudly served his country in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Miles and Willie Pearl Gresham Chafin; and his siblings: Nell Turpin, Jean Davenport, Pete Chafin, Malcolm Chafin, Aubrey Chafin, and Troy Chafin.
He is survived by his wife, June Sherrer Chafin; sons: Dennis and Jeff Chafin; granddaughters: Caylor Jones (Chris) and Cristan Johnson (Cody); and his great-grandson, William Johnson. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Washington, GA and enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.
Military honors will be rendered on Thursday, August 31, at 11:00a.m. at Berry Funeral Home with visitation immediately following. Burial will be in the Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery in Wilkes County.
