Carol Angela "Angie" Brown Cannistra

Mrs. Carol Angela “Angie” Brown Cannistra, 72, of Summerville, SC entered into eternal rest on September 29, 2021, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, GA.

Angela was born in Charleston, SC at St. Francis Hospital to Caroll Aubrey Brown and Helen Harrison Brown on February 23, 1949.  She is a graduate of Thomson High School in Thomson, GA.  She wanted to be a nurse and attended Georgia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta, GA.  Angela met the love of her life Andy, in July of 1972, and married in December of the same year.  When her children came along a few years later, she put her career on hold to raise them and became a homemaker.

Angela enjoyed the beach, bird watching, flower gardening, crafting, community involvement, and a good Coca-Cola!  She truly loved her family and always made sure they took precedence.  She will forever be remembered as a caregiver to many family members – especially during these last few years of taking care of her elderly mother with the assistance of her husband, Andy.

Angela  is preceded in death by her father, Caroll Aubrey Brown.  She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of almost 49 years Andrew Cannistra (Summerville, SC), daughter Christina Cannistra (Summerville, SC), son and daughter-in-law Thomas and Josephine “Fen” Cannistra (Jacksonville, FL), grandchildren Niňa Isabelle and Andrew Cannistra, brother and sister-in-law David and Missy Brown (Seneca, SC), many nieces and nephews, and her mother Helen Harrison Brown. 

Angela will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends!  We are thankful to God for bringing her into our lives.

Visitation will be held at Beggs Funeral Home on Friday, October 1, 2021, from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m.  Her Funeral Service, being officiated by Dr. David Lambert and Bro. Randy Walden, will be held at Thomson First Baptist Church on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with the interment following in the Fort Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Dearing, Georgia.  Pallbearers for the service are Thomas Cannistra, Dave Marvicsin, Glenn Emerick, James Harrison, Greg Harrison and Scott Priem.

Per CDC requirements, the family will be observing social distancing, and masks are requested and appreciated.  Due to the current national health concern, the family would appreciate phone calls, cards, texts, and e-mails.
