Billy Gene “Bill Boy” Sturkey

Dearing, GA – Mr. Billy Gene “Bill Boy” Sturkey, 65, of George McDuffie Road Extension entered into rest July 11, 2018.

Mr. Sturkey, a native of McDuffie County, was the son of the late Fonzie Sturkey and the late Mary Walker Sturkey. “Bill Boy”, as he was known by his family and friends, was self-employed as a brickmason. A Baptist by faith, Mr. Sturkey was a member of Second Baptist Church. He enjoyed working on things in his spare time.

Survivors include a son, Billy Gene Sturkey; daughters, Barbara Hope Bing, Brenda Clark (Frank), and Rebecca Hancock; brothers, Buck Sturkey and Bud Sturkey; sisters, Mary Langham (Bunyan), Gladys Keller, and Agnes Brooks; as well as 9 grandchildren; 2 great-granchildren; step daughter, Christina Hicks; and step grandson, Brice Hicks.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 15, 2018 in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home with Rev. Lester Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Baptist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends the hour prior to the service on Sunday.
