Billy Elmore Obituary

Billy Eugene Elmore, 68, of Moose Club Rd., Thomson, GA entered into rest January 7, 2021.

Billy retired from AT&T in 2012 after almost 35 years of faithful service beginning with Southern Bell in 1978.  He was a dedicated youth baseball and football coach for many years.  He touched the life of many young men in the Thomson-McDuffie community and tried to teach them valuable life lessons.  Billy was a burly man with long hair and a mountain man beard.  He told all of his youth players if they won a state championship, they could shave his beard and head.  He kept his word, and the 2002 Thomson Football State Champions got this opportunity. He was a die-hard hunter.  His love for the outdoors lead him to introduce many youth to those activities.  He enjoyed spending time at his farm in Warren County riding on his tractor and feeding his deer.  His greatest accomplishment was his grandkids, and their “Big Daddy” was their biggest fan as they participated in football, baseball, wrestling, baton, and color guard.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Jane Dobson Elmore; son, Shawn Elmore (Kellie) of Sugar Valley, GA; daughter, Shannon Emfinger (David) of Pine Mountain, GA; sisters, Pam Richardson (Steve) of Marietta, GA; Deborah Childers (Craig) of Adairsville, GA; grandchildren, David Emfinger, III, Hannah Elmore, Logan Emfinger, Drew Elmore, Connor Nolan, Grant Dailey and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
