Betty Newsome McDonald, 98, Warrenton, Georgia, entered into eternal rest at Lake Crossing Health Center on November 14, 2022.
Betty was born in Warren County on September 15, 1924, and lived there all her life until she became a resident at Lake Crossing in her later years. She was a member of Mesena United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School there for many years. Betty was a Licensed Practical Nurse, and during her formative years worked as an LPN at Thomson Manor and Thomson Company. Betty especially loved serving her Lord and spending time with friends and family.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Fred A. Newsome and Mary Lou Smith Newsome and her husband, Claude Wesley McDonald. Her survivors include her sister, Dorothy Akins of Mableton; her nephews and nieces, Roy (Rose), Eddie (Kathy), William “Billy” (Brenda), Patricia Ware, Lisa (Kenny), Carl, Cheryl, Melissa, Jule, David, Clyde, Gloria, Mary Carol (Nathan), James (Peggy) and other extended family.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 18, 2022, at Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Road, Thomson, Georgia with Rev. Ray Camp officiating. Visitation will be held from Noon until 1:00 p.m. being one hour prior to her service with her interment to follow at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, Thomson, Georgia. Pallbearers for the service are Richard Clark, Claude Newsome, Billy McCord, Eddie Newsome, Roy Newsome and Jason Newsome.
