Barbara Sue Cheak
Mrs. Barbara Sue Cheak, 81, of Dearing, GA passed away June 26, 2021.
Mrs. Cheak was born in Ewing, Virginia, graduated Thomas Walker High School in 1958, married Ray Cheak in 1961 and moved to Dearing, Georgia in 1975. She retired in 2000 from the McDuffie County School System after serving 20 years as a paraprofessional. She performed as a member of the Southern Bluegrass Band for over 20 years. She loved to sing bluegrass and gospel music, spend time with her grandchildren, and attend bluegrass festivals with her husband.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Hassie Snodgrass; her son, Richard Douglas Cheak; her brother, Denver Snodgrass; and her granddaughter, Rebekah Cheak.
Her survivors include her husband of 60 years, Ray Cheak; her son, Mark Cheak (Stephanie); daughter, Teresa Lamberty; her three sisters, Margaret Ayers, Betty Gloeckner (David), and Delores Williams; her grandchildren, David Cheak, Morgan Trace Henry, Teagan Lamberty, Jillian Lamberty; Ramon Lamberty, III, and Quinn Lamberty; her sisters-in-law, Barbara Cope (Carlos) and Betty Rainbolt (Gary); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:45 p.m., Monday, June 28th at Beggs Funeral Home, Thomson. A graveside service will immediately follow at 3 p.m. at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Pastor David Young officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
