Arthur Edward "Art" Fizer

Arthur Edward Fizer, known to friends and family as Art, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2023, in Lincolnton, Georgia.

Mr. Fizer, son of the late William W. and Goldie Mae Fern Fizer was born on May 24, 1929 in Lewis County, KY. Growing up in rural Kentucky, Art attended a country schoolhouse, where he developed a strong work ethic and a love for learning that would stay with him throughout his life. During the early 1950’s, he served an enlistment in the US Army.  His upbringing laid the foundation for a successful career as an industrial electrician with Dresser Corporation in Connersville, Indiana, where he worked for 36 years. In his later years, Art found joy in giving back to his community as a custodian at Lincoln County Elementary School. His friendly demeanor and willingness to help others endeared him to both students and staff. Art's interests were as diverse as they were fulfilling. He found solace in working in his yard and tending to his beloved garden where he spent countless hours cultivating a beautiful space for his family to enjoy. Art was also an avid fisherman. Being a man of deep faith, Art was also a dedicated member and Deacon at Salem Baptist Church.

Art is survived by his son, Alan Fizer of Lincolnton, his cherished granddaughter, Erica Newton Batten and husband Lee; brothers, William Fizer of Indiana, Bob Fizer of Kentucky, Davie Fizer of Indiana, sister, Mary Thorp of Indiana; and grandchildren, Riley Brown and Olivia Batten.  After the death of his wife and mother of his children, Marjorie Rowe Fizer, Mr. Fizer married Lois Bentley and they enjoyed many years together until she passed away recently. In addition, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Ann Newton.

A funeral service to honor Art's life will be held at Salem Baptist Church on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 2pm with interment following in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6pm until 8pm at Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton.
