Arnold Quayle “Wheel” Wheelbarger
Norwood, GA - Mr. Arnold Wheelbarger, 95, formerly of Baltimore, MD, Danielsville, GA, and Wilkes County, GA, went to dance with the angels and reunite with the loves of his life on March 24, 2019 at the Georgia War Veterans Home. He was born in Mt. Sidney, VA, the son of the late Virgil Lamar Wheelbarger and the late Nina Whitmore Wheelbarger. Mr. Wheelbarger served his country in the Army Air Force and was stationed at Hickam Field, HI during World War II. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel Company. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wheelbarger was predeceased by his wife, Edna Helmintoller, their son Phillip Wheelbarger, Sr. and grandson Phillip Wheelbarger, Jr.
Survivors include 3 great grand-daughters, Alyssa, Olivia, and Mayce and their mother Amanda, all of PA; and several loving nieces and nephews, Robin W. Johnson (Alan) of GA, David Wheelbarger (Jane) of MO, Roland Wheelbarger (Janice) and Sue Fowler (Don) of MD, and Bobby Elmore (Angeline) of UT.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 4 until 6 p.m., at the Johnson cabin, 6623 Cadley Rd., Norwood, GA. Burial will be at a later date in the Crownsville Veterans Cemetery, MD.
The family wishes to acknowledge the kind and compassionate staff on the 4th floor of the Georgia War Veterans Home, the staff at Harpers Personal Care Home, and his special friends, Eugenia and Robert Ryan. As “Wheel” would say “you are ladies and scholars!”
