Allen McFerrin, 87, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was a native of Lincolnton, Georgia and was the son of the late M.N. and Sallie Mae Myers McFerrin and the widower of Bobbie McFerrin. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1952-1955. Allen retired as a heavy equipment operator from Altra Builders Inc., the company he formed with his brother, Tracy.
He is survived by his children Glenn McFerrin and wife, Jenie of Urbana, VA, Susan Jewett and husband, Dan of Maryland, Ellen McFerrin of Gloucester, VA, and Sharon Lathrop and husband, David; brothers, Tracy McFerrin and wife, Joanne of Gloucester, VA, and Gary McFerrin and wife, Ruth of Hartfield, VA; sister, Becky McFerrin McClain and husband, George of McCormick, SC; grandchildren, Joshua Jewett, Nikki Jewett, Kaitlyn Lathrop, and Zachary Lathrop; great grandchildren, Madison, Gabe, and Isaiah, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas McFerrin, Billy "Mac" McFerrin, and Donnie McFerrin; sisters, Vivian Wright and Shirley McFerrin.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Windsor Gardens Cemetery, Dutton, Va. Memorial donations may be made to St. Judes Hospital. Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
