Mrs. Zella S. Bennett, 73 of 306 Poplar Drive, Washington, entered into rest March 24th at Wills Memorial Hospital, Washington, GA following an extended battle with cancer. Mrs. Bennett, daughter of the late John & Jayne Wilkes Seitz, was born on April 27, 1938 in Newnan, Georgia. She was a certified nursing assistant having worked in various hospitals and nursing homes, and had a calling for volunteer work donating herself to many avenues of service including mission work, hurricaine Katrina clean-up, and working with the sick and elderly. Additionally Mrs. Bennett volunteered with such organizations as the Relay for Life, Alzheimers Association, and Hospice. She was a faithful member of Smyrna United Methodist Church where she was active in her service to her Lord. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Charles (Chuck) Bennett, Washington; a son, Gary Bennett; two daughters: Beverly Warren & husband, Charles, and Deborah Dancer & husband, Bill all of North Carolina; a brother, Malcom Corriea & wife Cindy of Martinez, GA; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by two grandchildren, her parents, and her step-father. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 15th at 3pm. at Smyrna United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Broom officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in her memory be made to the American Cancer Society, the Alzheimer's Association, or a Hospice of your choice.
