Wilma Carter Thornton

Mrs. Wilma Carter Thornton, 92 of Wheatley Road, Washington, Ga, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.

Mrs. Thornton, daughter of the late Mack and Mary Cribbs Carter, was born on December 18, 1928 in Baxley, Ga. Mrs. Thornton retired from Clark- Schwebel and also enjoyed being a homemaker and farming.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Robert Thornton; her son, Freddie Wayne Thornton and grandsons, Christopher Robert Thornton and Joseph Sweatman.

She is survived by her children, Pat Turner (Howard), Baxley, Georgia,  Eddie Wayne Thornton (Melissa), Thomson, Georgia, Daniel Lee Thornton (Dana), Washington, Georgia and Charlie Robert Thornton, Thomson, Georgia and a special friend and caregiver for three years, Judy Whitener. She was a beloved mother, grandmother of 13, great-grandmother of 26 and great-great grandmother of 12.

A visitation is planned for Saturday evening, February 27, 2021, from 5PM-7PM at Beggs Funeral Home, 200 May Avenue, Lincolnton, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 2PM at Rehoboth Baptist Church, 3219 Metasville Road, Washington, Georgia. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
